I love that my first blog post gets to be about one of the best moments I have ever had the joy of being part of. As Nathan has discussed, we are the soon to be proud owners of a gorgeous little flashy brindle boxer girl named Hannah (or Banana). With so much work to be done on the place and the hassle of moving, I had Nathan under the impression that we would not be getting Hannah until late June. However, the moment my mother gave me the news that Miss Banana would not be following in her champion dad's showdog footsteps, an elaborate surprise plan was hatched.
Hannah was spayed, microchipped, and caught up to date on all her vaccinations within two days of this news. The plan? I would drive 431 miles south to Gable, SC and my mom would drive 433 miles north to Gable, SC where we would meet for lunch and exchange the dog. The problem? Getting food, toys, and basic necessities for a dog without arousing suspicion from a very sharp (and very handsome) boyfriend...Oh, and not mention figure a way to disappear for 13 hours. Solution? Hide dog items in a cooler he never looks in and lie, lie, lie about your plans.
The day arrived. Kyle was a trooper and joined me for this 5 am drive. I won't recount all six hours, but suffice to say, this is what it felt like:
Anyway, we waited about 10 minutes for my mom to show up. We spent this time getting treats and her collar ready.
We ate Subway since it was the only place to eat that was less than 20 miles from I-95. I got this great over exposed picture of my mom and I with Hannah.
